The Unveiling Ceremony



On March 8, the unveiling ceremony of the “Aluminum Alloy Materials Joint Research Center for Civil Aircrafts” between Nanshan Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. and China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute was ceremoniously held in the aluminum exhibition hall of Nanshan Aviation Materials Industrial Park. The ceremony was presided over by Pan Feng, the director of Nanshan Group Technical Center, attended by such leaders as Han Shijun, the municipal party secretary of Longkou, Shen Bo, the president of China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute, and Cheng Rence, the president of Nanshan Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd. President Cheng Rence and President Shen Bo jointly unveiled the Aluminum Alloy Materials Joint Research Center for Civil Aircrafts. Previously, Lyu Zhengfeng, the general manager of Nanshan Aluminum Industry Co., Ltd., and Wang Junjun, the chief accountant of China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute, respectively signed the joint construction and cooperation agreement of the “Aluminum Alloy Materials Joint Research Center for Civil Aircrafts” on behalf of the two sides.

Secretary Han Shijun expressed full recognition to the achievements of Nanshan Aluminum that it made in the high-end aluminum alloy materials for its commitment to scientific and technological innovation. He extended his congratulations to the establishment of the Aluminum Alloy Materials Joint Research Center for Civil Aircrafts between China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute and Nanshan Aluminum. He hoped that China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute would cooperate with Nanshan Aluminum sincerely and step forward hand-in-hand to build a world-class aluminum materials research center for civil aircrafts.

President Shen Bo mentioned in his speech that the 7050 thick plate of Nanshan Aluminum had been certified by Comac, providing hundreds of tons of raw materials for the study and manufacturing of large aircraft; the wing girder was made of 17 meters of straight profile, which broke the international monopoly of this material, and was completely self-reliant. Nanshan Aluminum was an excellent partner of COMAC. He stressed that “Aluminum Alloy Materials Joint Research Center for Civil Aircrafts between China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute and Nanshan Aluminum” shouldered the historical mission of realizing the complete localization of aluminum materials for commercial aircraft and establishing and improving the service system of the Chinese aviation materials industry chain. He indicated that Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute would cooperate with Nanshan Aluminum to jointly build a joint research center for civil aircraft aluminum alloy materials, give full play to the role of the design and research center of the main domestic commercial aircraft manufacturer, and pave the way for Longkou and Nanshan Aluminum to participate in the development of large domestic aircrafts so as to create a common future.


In his speech, President Cheng Rence said that the cooperation between Nanshan Aluminum and China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute was started many years ago, and there was a good basis for cooperation between both parties. As the design and development center of Comac, Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute undertakes the historical missions such as the design, test, pre-research and key technology tackling of the large aircraft projects in China. Sticking to the dream of striving with sincerity and serving the country with aviation materials, Nanshan Aluminum has successfully researched and developed aviation aluminum alloy materials and become a qualified supplier of Boeing, Airbus, Comac and other domestic and foreign mainstream aircraft factories and realized batch supply. This time, the cooperation and establishment of “Aluminum Alloy Materials Joint Research Center for Civil Aircrafts” between both parties is to make full use of the technical advantages of Nanshan Aluminum in aluminum alloy products used for aircrafts and the rich experience of China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute accumulated in the aircraft manufacturing industry, to create a unique new scientific and technical innovation platform and jointly promote the technical progress of aviation materials in terms of research and manufacturing in China. Nanshan Aluminum will contribute to the realization of the Chinese dream of large aircraft.

Afterwards, both parties held a grand unveiling ceremony. The leaders and representatives present at the meeting had further exchanges on the future in-depth cooperation, development ideas, working mechanisms and other matters between both parties and reached important consensus.

Large aircraft is the national people’s “aviation dream”, and having own large aircraft is ardent expectations of the country and the people. The purpose for China COMAC Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute and Nanshan Aluminum to build the joint research center is to provide both parties with a platform for technical work and exchanges about aluminum alloy products such as research and development, application research, process control, process optimization, quality improvement,  detection and evaluation required for the plane field, to realize the construction goal of completely localization of civil aircraft aluminum in our country, to establish and perfect our complete industry chain service system of aviation materials, and to build an international first-class research and development center for civil aviation materials.
